Tickled Pink

Yesterday, Brit Boy and I took a trip into town, and while we were there, I bought a very important shirt. I bought a Tickled Pink shirt just like I did last year. Here’s my shirt from this year. It has three quarter length sleeves and it was very comfortable when I tried it on. I’m so happy to have a new shirt to wear proudly.

And here is my Tickled Pink shirt from last year. It’s a comfy pink one and it used to have feathers adorning the drawn on feather on the front, but the feathers have fallen off over time. :-) It is probably my favorite t-shirt for two reasons…#1: It is really comfy and soft and #2: It is for a cause that is close to my heart and indeed to my breasts. :-) Please excuse the wrinkled appearance of both shirts. They were both headed to the washing machine.

October, as many of you know, is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. As a woman, I am always doing my best to check myself regularly, but sometimes I slip up. Breast Cancer Awareness Month always brings me back to what I should be doing for myself and my health and also for Brit Boy’s sake too. I want to be around to hang out with him for a few more decades. :-) Life is so precious.

As I mentioned before, the Tickled Pink campaign is a great way to help to fund research into cancer treatment and there are many more places to find out about what is going on and also to lend a hand. Here are a few that I love:

Susan G. Komen for the Cure
Breast Cancer Care
Breast Cancer Campaign

So ladies, just a reminder from a friend, please remember to check yourselves and to take care. Please remind your mothers, sisters, and friends. And guys, please remind your wives and mothers and sisters that it is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Also check yourselves because men can get this kind of cancer too. We all need to work together to take care of each other. :-)

Wonderful post, Dori. I'm pretty good with my monthly self-checks. Susan Koman's Foundation is my fave. I went on the walk for the cure while aboard my honeymoon cruise this past April. Carnival Cruise line calls it On Deck for the Cure. I still wear the pink bracelet I got there every day.
BTW: I love both of your t-shirts :o)

Mike,
So true...it is a really important cause. I am so sorry that you lost your grandma that way. Hugs to you my friend.

Ivanhoe,
I'm so glad that you are keeping up with your self-checks. That "On Deck for the Cure" is a great idea. And yeah, I love the Komen Foundation's outreach and all of the work that they do. I'm glad you like my shirts. They are comfy shirts, and also it just makes me feel empowered for myself and others to wear the shirts. It is certainly money well-spent. Have a great weekend. :-)

Awesome shirts!

And you're right about breast cancer. Men get it, too. And we DO need to take care of each other.

Great post Dori.

You reminded me of my Uncle Jimmy who died of breast cancer when you talked about men needing to check themselves as well.

I talked about him briefly in my post today. Thanks for the focus with this one.

Alicia,
You are right. Breast Cancer Awareness is now more in the forefront. I just pray we see the cure for all cancers within our lifetime. I'm glad that you wear the shirts and things too. We are on the same page and we will all get there together. :-)

Susan,
I'm glad you like my shirts. :-) Yeah, I do think that it needs to be highlighted that men get it too.

Elizabeth,
I'm glad that you liked my post. Your remembering your Uncle Jimmy is a great testimony to men getting this too. I'm glad that we were of the same mind today in our posts. :-)

You don't really think about men when it comes to discussing breast cancer, but I personally know 1 woman who's had it and 3 men - strange how our perceptions don't always match the reality.

Katie-Anne,
This is so true. The perception is often that it is just women, but as you have shown by your example, it happens to men too. I am just so pleased that we are having this conversation here. Thanks so much for adding your voice.

What a great reminder. I have a friend that has just battled a round of it. She is beating this so far. She is getting ready to walk for the Susan G. Koman walk. I am so proud of her.

Thank you for an important post reminding us about breast cancer awareness.
My horses wear "pink" sheets and blankets and use "pink" halters and leads. I'm off to look for my own pink shirt now that I've seen yours.
We can never do too much to support cancer research and raise awareness.
Thanks again for your post.

Tammy,
Your friend is an inspiration. I think it is so great that she is doing the walk. I know that you are so proud of her. :-)

Mountain Woman,
I'm so glad that your horses are doing the pink thing. :-) I agree that we can never do too much to support cancer research. Cancer just simply takes away so many people that we love. I am so glad that you are gonna get a shirt too. :-)

Jewelry Rockstar,
I'm so excited. This is my first tag! :-) Thanks.

Renee,
I'm glad to know that you are having "feel your boobies" week. :-) I've recently bought this glove thing that helps with checking too. I am still getting used to it. I'm so glad that more awareness is out there.
