Watching the Super Bowl in England

The Super Bowl is this Sunday, February 3rd and I'm getting excited! I'm a fairly new fan of NFL football and having been watching for about three years now. I've watched football in passing over the years as I grew up with a sister and brother who loved football, but I never was an active fan. I've always watched bits of the Super Bowl, but in the past it was mostly for the commercials and the half-time show.

Around here we may have some snacks, but nothing official in the vein of a Super Bowl party. I've been looking around on the internet, and I've found that there are loads of events in London that are being held in honor of the Super Bowl. American football has really developed a following over here in the UK over recent years. The NFL have even played a game over here for the last few years to give UK fans a chance to experience a NFL game. I think that this has definitely expanded the game with fans over here who didn't grow up with the NFL like I did. Several London bars and pubs are offering a full night of Super Bowl fun and it would be great to go. I think that it would be an intriguing experience to watch an American classic in the heart of London.

Brit Boy and I are going to do our best to watch most of the game, however it will be late here, so we might be snoring after a point. I may even Skype with my niece in the lead up in order to have some laughs. We'll do our best to bring some Super Bowl buzz to our corner of England. It should be a fun night. We'll have our snacks at the ready and I'll be singing along with Beyonce and the reunited Destiny's Child at half-time ;-)

My Atlanta Falcons didn't make it this time, but they came close. They had a great season! I'm still a Falcons fan...win or lose! So I don't know who I'm gonna cheer for. This clash is between the Baltimore Ravens and the San Francisco 49ers. I'll probably just cheer for the sake of cheering and for nobody in particular. LOL. Why not?

If you'll be watching, I hope that you enjoy it! I know I will.

Snowy England

Hello there! So here are the photos that I promised to share of the snowy surroundings here in southwest England :-)  As I mentioned before, I'm not a big fan of snow, but it makes for nice scenery! I hope that you enjoy these :-)

A Special Day

I know that I said that my next post would be my snowy pictures post, but I will do that tomorrow.

Today I wanted to pay a short tribute to this special day!
HAPPY MARTIN LUTHER KING JR DAY
AND
HAPPY INAUGURATION DAY

These days separately mean a lot to me and having them on the same day is extra special. I am definitely back home in spirit today with my friends and family :-)

Snow Pics to Come

Hello! I hope that everyone is having a good weekend! Mine is going pretty well. It snowed here yesterday and even though it's pretty to look at, I'm ready for it to go be gone :-)  Everything grinds to a halt and you can't get anywhere that you need to go. I know that some will say, that I should just see it as a chance to slow down. Well I am a rather slowed down person by nature anyway and I love vegging out...believe me ;-)  So it's not that I can't sit still and just chill. Actually it probably has a little bit to do with getting stuck in a freak snowstorm about twenty years ago. So I'm not a big fan. But hey, what can you do? It's just one of those things I guess.

Life goes on and we make snowmen  :-)

Anyway, I know that there are lots of snow lovers out there and we all like seeing the pretty side of snow as it envelopes the scenery, so I have some photos that I'll share in my next post. I'm not a total Grinch. LOL. I do love the gentle beauty of it. I haven't looked at my photos yet, but hopefully I got some decent pics...fingers crossed.

Shattered Burgers

Look at what's happened to our timer....

We've had it a little bit over a year and now it is no more. Boo hoo! I LOVED our burger food timer, but alas it shattered over the weekend. I dropped it and one half of the bun went one way, one half went the other and the inner workings scattered. I tried to fix it, but the white disc that you see here now has a chip out of it and a piece is missing, so it will not work. Darn! Oh well...

I remember where we got it so we're gonna go by there sometime and see if they have anymore. It's nothing fancy and kind of kitschy, but it was our little inexpensive fun timer and we loved it. If you ever want to know about our sense of humor around the Yellow House, just think about what our food timer looks like. We like to have fun. That's us...no apologies  :-)

So when we get our new timer or something else that suits us, I'll share it here. Have a good day!

Hot Chocolate Memories

Hello all...

I hope that everyone has had a good weekend. Mine was pretty good. Today I thought that I would simply share a picture in line with my previous promise to share more about my day to day life.

So here it is...

I got this tin of hot chocolate in the lead up to Christmas and I have been enjoying drinking it here and there, especially when it's been chilly outside. Hot chocolate always reminds me of my childhood. My mom used to make such good hot chocolate for me and to this day I still can't make it taste like hers. I guess it was magic! :-)

Still, this hot chocolate is okay. Not my favorite, but okay. The plus in this whole thing is that after it's empty, I'll have a neat tin to store things in, so I'm excited about that. I love storage ;-)

Have a good day!
