Photographer Christopher Makos
Recently I've had the opportunity to enjoy a wonderful collection of black and white photographs in a book called Everything: The Black and White Monograph by Christopher Makos, published by Glitterati Incorporated. It includes three decades of work by the globally recognized photographer and his work is extraordinary! This is a very large book that includes 248 photographs and is printed in quadratone, which gives a visually beautiful textured presentation of Makos' work.

The list of those who are included in this masterwork reads like a who's who of popular culture over the years. As I turned the pages of this book I was taken in by one iconic subject after another. There are photographs of Georgia O' Keeffe, Liza Minelli, Jean-Michel Basquiat, Grace Jones, Elizabeth Taylor and scores of others.
Elizabeth Taylor, Far Hills, New Jersey, 1988
Mick Jagger, Montauk, New York, 1977
I was also enthralled by the pictures of places and of different people living their lives in the numerous ways that people do. This incredible book is perfectly titled because there is a bit of everything seemingly within its pages. I know that it's impossible to photograph everything, but the vibe of the book makes you feel as if you're looking at a day in the life of the planet in a way.
Andy Warhol, NYC, 1986
Guardian Angels, NYC, 1981
Sailing by the World Trade Center, 1998
Easter, Palm Beach, 1984
This is a wonderful book and it's an absolute treat to look through whether you're interested in popular culture or if you're a photography lover like me. I know for sure that I'll be revisiting this collection of incredible images again and again.
