In the new book, My Elizabeth by Firooz Zahedi © 2016, the photographer captures the beautiful Elizabeth in some of her private moments and it's a treat for her fans or anyone who loves photography. Firooz Zahedi met the star as a promising young photographer and a great friendship blossomed that lasted for many years.
This elegant book documents an era of Elizabeth Taylor's life from 44 to the end of her life, in photographs that show her in ways that many of us have never seen. Many of the photographs have never been published until now. There is a preface by Liz Smith, who is known as the "grand dame of dish" and also an essay by writer Bob Colacello.

In this collection, we get to see Ms. Taylor exploring ancient ruins, playing softball with friends, applying her makeup to go onstage and making lunch, along with many other glimpses from her life. One thing that stuck out for me was remembering her work as an AIDS activist and how she used her celebrity so wisely to highlight this very worthy cause. She was a smart lady. She is often remembered for her jewels, her beauty, and her many marriages, but My Elizabeth digs deeper and shows us her humanity.

From a purely artistic point of view, I found My Elizabeth to be a stunning book. It's a splendid oversized volume with beautiful violet book end papers that lend just that extra level of elegance to this wonderful book. The photographs of Elizabeth Taylor are of course gorgeous and I had a great time looking at each and every one.
