Disclosure: I was sent a copy of this book for review. All opinions are mine.
Recently I’ve had the opportunity to read From the Ashes– Shadows of a Phoenix Series – Book 1, by S. L Briden. This is the first novel of an epic medieval fantasy series set in the era of King Arthur. This is the fascinating story of two knights and a sorceress who fight against the armies of the Dark, in a battle foretold by prophecy. It is a classic tale of good versus evil.
Two knights, David and Andrew, are charged by their Grandmaster to protect the sorceress Arread, who is no wallflower and is strong-willed in her own right. David and Andrew initially believe that their protection assignment is beneath them, but they soon learn that this is not the case. They find themselves on a quest to fulfil an ancient prophecy in the battle between Light and Dark. There is romance in this tale as David becomes attracted to the thrilling Arread. However, he is torn between duty and his heart. There is a lot on the line in their quest.
This novel is a thrilling mixture of history, adventure, emotion, and romance. I found it to be a fantastic read, especially during this season of snuggling under a blanket with a good book. It’s a great autumn/winter read, but this imaginative story can be equally enjoyed when you’re at the beach or chilling by the pool. It's absolutely a novel where you can get lost within the pages.
I thoroughly enjoyed From the Ashes– Shadows of a Phoenix Series – Book 1 and I’d definitely recommend it to all of the book lovers out there!
