Goodbye 2016

Well, another year is coming to an end and it has me in a reflective mood. There have been highs and lows in addition to the middle that holds together day-to-day life. In the end, it's all good :)

A year ago on this very day, I wasn't very well at all, so I'm extremely grateful in this moment to be able to sit here and type these words. I wasn't at death's door or anything, but I was confined to bed. So it's a blessing to be upright!

I have always loved this day...December 31st. I really feel it. It's like teetering on the edge of a cliff and waiting to leap over an invisible line into the next chapter. Forgive me if I'm rambling or if I lose you here, but this day always makes me feel like I'm truly a part of  "Time". I feel a connection with the past and the future at the same time. It also makes me think of my mom. This was the last day that I spent with her in 2005. It's bittersweet, but I relish the fun that we had and I'll carry that with me for the rest of my life :)

Tonight along with everyone else, I'll say goodbye to 2016. I know it's a bit of an understatement, but it's been a helluva year! So many beloved people in our collective popular culture have left us along with those who we may have personally known and loved. I'll tell you something. It's all made me cherish life even more than I did already and it's reminded me to love even more.

Even though I'm no'm gonna do my very best to go just a bit harder on top of what's normal for me, in pursuit of what I want in my life. It can't hurt, huh? :) It's not a resolution...I've just gotta do better.

Thank you for visiting me here in 2016. I have more photos, thoughts, updates on my book and things to share, so I hope that you'll come back to see me in 2017!

I wish health, happiness, love, and the best of everything for everyone in 2017!

Product Spotlight: Misfit Cosmetics

I received these great products from Misfit Cosmetics a couple of days ago and since then I've been giving them a whirl to see what they're like. I thoroughly enjoyed trying each product out and I look forward to using every last drop of all three of them! :) They're three very distinct products that all do something different, but pull together nicely to give a great overall experience.

The Shine Natural Teeth Whitening powder is great. It's a natural teeth whitener containing activated carbon which helps take away stains and gives a whiter smile. I enjoyed this and look forward to using it more.

The Edit London's Blackhead Extraction Paste is a peel-off mask made with bamboo charcoal which polishes the skin while cleansing pores deeply. I must say, I really enjoyed using this product because it left my skin feeling refreshed immediately. It's like I could just feel all of the yucky stuff being lifted from my pores.

The last product is the Slumber Natural Sleep Oil. This lovely oil uses lavender oil to help you relax and ease into a good nights sleep. It only takes a few drops to set a calming mood. I dropped a few drops on the underside of my pillow and it was so nice to have the calming fragrance as I drifted off to sleep. It was relaxing and not overpowering. You can also put a few drops into your bath for a relaxing soak. This was a lovely treat!

All three products offer great ways to take good care of yourself and that's especially a wonderful idea as we go forward through Christmas and these last days of the year.

These are fabulous to give to someone as a gift or for a little treat for yourself!

Disclosure: I received these product free in exchange for a review.

Christmas Around Bath

Over the weekend, hubby and I went to Bath. Instead of going to do our errands in our usual town centre, we decided that Saturday errands could be done just as easily in a lovely place like Bath. It's not too far away and the view during the drive is absolutely stunning. Plus, this was the last weekend of the Christmas Market so we thought that we'd go and soak up the atmosphere. It definitely gets me into the spirit of the holidays! Here are some of the photos that I took of the decorations that we saw as we walked around. I hope you enjoy them!

The big tree outside Bath Abbey
Part of the Christmas Market and there's even a yellow house nearby to go along with the name of this blog. I didn't intend to catch the yellow house in the shot, but I guess it was meant to be ;-)

Have a wonderful day!

Book Spotlight: Revisiting 'The Rose Within'

Back in April, I shared my review of the wonderful book The Rose Within by Sana Pirzada. It's a lovely gothic romance and I think it's a great book to curl up with during these cold winter days and nights. I really enjoyed the novel. If you'd like to read my review, you can find it here.

Today I'd like to share something else special about this lovely book. The author, Sana Pirzada, has now created a beautiful music video as a companion to the novel. The talented writer is also a wonderful musician and the director of this elegant video. Please take a look:

Vocals by Tara Louise

I think that the video has such an ethereal beauty to it.
Have a wonderful day!
