November Saturdays and Fall Colors

Happy Saturday...

Just thought that I'd share the beautiful view from our nice drive around the countryside this morning. This is my passenger seat view.

The fall colors are really coming through now. Nature is glorious! 🍂🍁🍂🍁🍂

Photos From a Weekend

Today I thought that I'd share a couple of slightly fuzzy photos from the past few days that I've shared on Instagram. I took both last weekend. The top one was from when I was out and about having a short Sunday morning walk. The bottom one was taken from the passenger seat in our car as we headed out to do an errand.

As I mentioned on Instagram, the top one reminds me that spring is on its way in little ways that we can notice here and there. The bottom photo just reminded me how much I love the countryside, even with slightly broken fences :) Both remind me of the beauty of nature.

I hope that you have a great weekend wherever you are! :)

Happy June

I'm a day behind because of the Bank Holiday/Memorial Day weekend holiday. Today feels like Tuesday instead of Wednesday, but I'm not complaining. It just means that the weekend is that much closer. Woo hoo! I can't believe it's June already.

Here are some photos that I took over the weekend with my phone through the windshield of our car. Don't worry, I wasn't driving :) They're rather fuzzy, but I thought that I'd share them here anyway because I love sharing snaps of the countryside out here in Wiltshire. The intensely blue sky in the upper photo is just the effect of the windshield.

This second one was taken on the same day, but the clouds were starting to roll in at this point. I liked how moody it looked along this road with the tree striking its elegant pose. No one needs me to say it, but I'm gonna say the obvious anyway...nature creates some beautiful scenes.

It was a great weekend. I look forward to sharing other photos from time to time. Wiltshire is a lovely place and it reminds me of where I come from back in Georgia. I hope that you'll visit me again to see what else I have to share :)

HAPPY JUNE!!!

Another View Just Above The Rock

I thought that I'd share another photo today. This one was also taken on Good Friday. I took quite a few pics that day :) I realized after posting the photo yesterday that the rock was right below the frame of today's photo.

The tiny black flecks above the trees are birds. They were having a good time that day and so was I!

Happy weekend wherever you are!

Simple and Random Rocks

Hello :)

I was scrolling through my photos earlier and had fun looking at what's there. I've been lucky enough to capture some beautiful bits of scenery here and there, but sometimes I've taken random pics just because. I love being out in nature so much, so when I'm out walking around the Wiltshire countryside pretty much everything that I see is fair game :)

Here's a perfect example above of my anything goes mentality...I took a picture of a rock! Hey, who knows what was going through my mind, but in the end it gives me a chuckle so it did its job even though it's simply a picture of a rock. I remember this day...Good Friday...and I remember how gloriously beautiful the day was. This simple, random photo takes me back and it brings to mind the joy that I felt on that day, so random is good :)

Just thought I'd share ;-)

Have a great day wherever you are!

A Friday Photo and Leaves Decorated By Nature

Today's Friday photo was taken in the fall of 2010. Beauty was all around :)

I took a lot of pictures of the leaves that were in their full glory, still attached to the various trees, but they were equally beautiful scattered across the grass. It was a misty day so there was a layer of moisture on things here and there. I love how the water droplets are decorating the underside of the big leaf in this little group.

The leaves still haven't turned a lot where I live so I haven't taken any new fall pictures. I'm glad that I have these older ones to share though :)

Have a wonderful weekend!

A Friday Photo and Time Slippy Things

Today's Friday photo was taken in the fall of 2010. Who knew it was that long ago? Wow. I know I sound cliche whenever I say it, but time flies for real! I guess that it's truly hitting me that I've been living here a long time. I've been here nine and a half years, but it seems like I've been in this huge time slippy thing where the years lengthen and shorten at will and I'm caught unaware over and over.

Anyway, this photo was taken on a walk through the woods. If you've visited me before, you know I love a walk in the woods. You can check out a recent walk that I took here. I especially love taking these walks during the fall. I'm hoping to get out soon once the leaves change here and get some new photos because these from five years ago make me realize that it's been too long :)

Have a great weekend wherever you are and even though I'm a day late...

HAPPY OCTOBER!

Walking In The Woods - Part 3

Happy Sunday!

Here are the last photos from our walk in these lovely Wiltshire woods last weekend. If you missed the others, you can see them here and here. As I mentioned previously, there's nothing flashy here, it's simply the beauty of nature and for me that's my favorite kind of flashiness :) I'm a person who loves the quiet so I relish every chance that I can get away from the constant noise of the world. Don't get me wrong. Sound and excitement have their place and I like them too, but having quiet time for me is like healing for my ears and indeed my soul. Balance is the key :)

The trees were so tall and strong and beautiful. What a wonderful day it was!

I hope that you have a glorious Sunday! :)

Walking In The Woods - Part 2

Happy Saturday!

Here are a few more of the photos that I took on our walk in the woods of Wiltshire last weekend. As I mentioned in my post yesterday, it was a wonderful time. Everything was still quite green, but here and there I could see signs of fall arriving, such as the yellow leaf below that I saw along the path.

The sun was glorious that day, much like it is today. I loved the way that the rays streamed through the trees.

I have a couple of other photos to share tomorrow so I hope that you'll come back to check them out.

Have a great weekend! :)

A Friday Photo and Walking In the Woods

Today's Friday photo was taken last weekend on our walk in the woods. It was a really glorious day. It was warm and things were still leafy and green which I loved. Every time I walk in the woods here it makes me think of walking in the woods on my family's land back home. It's as if each location on either side of the world is connected in that moment and I am in the middle with one foot in each place. It's always an amazing feeling for me!

I love looking up at the canopy made by the trees as they shelter what's below. As you can see in my photo, I'm checking out the view above, but I'm always keeping my eyes open for what's happening on the ground too ;-) There's so much to see.

I have a few more photos that I took that day and I'll share them over the next few days. They're simply pictures of trees, nothing flashy, but then trees are so wonderful they don't need flashiness do they? :)

I hope you have a wonderful weekend wherever you are!

A Friday Photo and the Last Bits of Summer

Today's Friday photo is one that I took just yesterday. We were heading back from the store and I wasn't driving so I took this picture from the passenger side. Yesterday was a beautiful sunny day, sort of like the summer days that we didn't get in June ;-) So I really relished having this lovely sunny weather while we have it. It's blurry because we were moving, but I liked the feeling of movement so I thought that I'd share it :-)

Have a great Friday and a wonderful weekend wherever you are!

A Friday Photo and Summer Memories

Today's Friday photo was taken in July 2012 and all that I can think of is how time flies. I know it's cliche, but sometimes when I look back at these various photos I really can't believe that it's been that long because many of them feel like just yesterday. I remember very vividly taking this walk and coming to this path that led to the bridge.

In a way I guess that within yourself, inside your own memory, anything is accessible as if it were yesterday and that's the beauty of memory :)

This photo also makes me think of summer especially as we're heading towards fall now. Summer's green will soon give way to fall's yellows, oranges, and reds and I look forward to it because fall is my favorite season.

So long summer...see you again soon!

A Friday Photo and Natural Beauty

Today's Friday photo was taken a few days ago here in Wiltshire. This was the view as we drove home. It was a gloriously beautiful day! I love the wide open fields and the curvy roads.

It was a wonderful day :-)

Have a great weekend wherever you are!

Yellow Fields

Happy Monday!

Today I'd like to share a picture that I took a couple of weeks ago when I was walking out in the countryside. It was a beautiful day. The yellow that you see is a plant called rapeseed. It's a very widespread crop that is grown around here. During the spring, the fields are colored with sunny yellow as if someone went through with a big paint brush. It makes for really beautiful scenery.

Have a good day and week!

Some Wiltshire Scenery

Hello all! I hope that everyone had a good weekend. Mine was good. It was more of a quiet weekend than the one before, which is good sometimes. Today I wanted to share some of the photos that I promised to share from our previous weekend. These are photos from May 12th that I took when we went for our outing in the woods that Saturday. I thought that I'd start out with some photos of the drive down there. I love taking pictures of clouds and that day the weather was beautiful and we had these fluffy clouds just gliding by. Also I thought it would be fun to share what it looks like on the drive further south in Wiltshire. I'll share the photos of the very pretty woods in another post.

The first two photos are just a bit of what it looks like as you drive further out into the countryside. I love driving down there and away from all the hustle and bustle of town life.

These next two were taken on the edge of Avebury...home of an arrangement of stones, similar to Stonehenge. The first one is the view driving into Avebury and the second one is on the other side as you're driving out of the village. The yellow field that is visible in the distance in the second photo is a field of rapeseed.

And this last photo really needs no description...it's a field of sheep. They graze around Avebury and they are a tranquil sight to see :-) I'll be back with more photos from that fun day out and I hope that you all have a great day!

The Colors of Nature

I was going through some of my photographs this morning and I came across this one that I like a lot. I took it last summer while Brit Boy and I were out around Wiltshire. I took it from the car as I am fond of doing when we are out and about :-) It's rather blurry, but I love the colors of nature and it was just a beautiful day that day. Seeing this photo again instantly takes me back to that day and how I felt as Brit Boy drove along. I look forward to getting some more photos like this hopefully this summer, and if I do, you know that I will share them here! :-)

Have a wonderful Thursday!

Hanging With Big Foot

It’s been a week since I posted, so I thought that today would be a good day to get back in the blogging swim of things :-) As I mentioned in my previous post, I’ve not been at my best physically, so I’ve been preoccupied with all of that. But I’m optimistic that things are going to turn out fine. In the meantime I’m just not going to worry about it. I’ll keep you posted though. Thanks so much for the get well wishes. As of this very moment though…I’m fine and dandy ;-)

So anyway, two posts ago I shared a picture of a big foot and said that I would let you know where I found such a big foot. Well, here’s the rather impressive big foot…

I would love to have that in our backyard. LOL. I’d probably paint its toenails and plant flowers around it ;-)

This rather impressive foot is actually part of a…FOOTPATH. Clever huh? Yep, it’s part of a footpath at Westonbirt Arboretum. Brit Boy and I have visited many times and it’s one of my favorite places. Check out this link to read about another one of our visits there. I love Westonbirt because it’s beautifully simple…it’s just you and nature and I love that!

Here’s the rest of the footpath. They’ve laid out parts of stumps and scattered them through the woods. Isn’t that a neat idea? :-)

Of course I had to skip across a couple of them. What I really wanted to do was don some fairy wings and skip along the whole path ;-) Just a peek into my fantasy-filled thoughts. Lol. It was a beautiful day out. Brit Boy and I really enjoyed seeing all of the fall colors.

I took some photos of the leaves, but I feel like it might be too late to share them since we’re getting on towards winter now. Because of recent circumstances I got a bit behind. But if you all want to see some of them, please leave me a comment and let me know and I’ll gladly honor your requests :-)

Well, I’ll leave it there for now. I’m going to be posting more frequently again now that I’ve gotten over some hurdles, so I hope that you’ll visit me again. And I’m going to be doing some visiting too.

Have a great weekend and I’ll talk to you later…

Two Forests

Yesterday, Brit Boy and I were out and about, and decided to stop off on the way back, to see if we could spot any fall colors in the forest. Well…we didn’t see much color yet, but it was still pleasant to take a walk in the woods. Hopefully a variety of colors will spring forth in the next week or so. So anyway, we enjoyed just being out in nature with the customary green all around us :-) It was lovely.

When I was growing up, I loved walking in the woods back home. We lived in a rather wooded and green area in Georgia, so I’ve always loved the peace of surroundings like that. Recently, they’ve constructed a nature trail back home, so it makes it even easier to enjoy it all. When I went home to visit last summer, I really relished the experience of reconnecting with what I did as a child. When I’m taking a walk like that, surrounded by all of the trees, I always get a sense of peace that I don’t get anywhere else. Walks like that are cool…aren’t they?

So yesterday, when we were in the woods here in Wiltshire, my mind wandered to the woods on the family land back home in Georgia. These places are thousands of miles apart in distance, but come from the same place of serenity. From time to time I find myself having these moments of my life here and my life back home occupying the same space at one moment in my mind. I’ll think, ‘Wow, this spot reminds me so much of home’. It’s like the two places touch across a vast ocean and I’m the bridge between them and it’s cool :-)

More and more as I go forward in my life I’m seeing vividly that yes, these two places that I’ve lived have things that make them different and many things make them similar, and that’s truly great. Variety is amazing and makes us unique. But in the end, the saying is true…we are more alike than we are different and sometimes our surroundings are too. And this chick that lives in this yellow house right now is cool with having a foot in each forest, on either side of the water.

So I hope you enjoy seeing a bit of what I saw today… :-)
