Backyard Beauty

I just thought that I'd share this photo that I took this morning. It's the view out to our backyard. I love it when flowers peek around the edges of leaves. Nature is beautiful.

Still Beautiful

These flowers are at the tail end of their time sitting in the window, but they're still so beautiful!

Happy Thursday!

Being True

This is a photo that I recently shared on Instagram. It's kinda recycled in a way since it's been posted there, but hey, recycling as a practice is good isn't it? :)

I took this photo one day when I was just sitting in my armchair. I looked out into the backyard. I thought about how that couple of little daffodils are holding their own in contrast to all of that green. They are beautiful and I loved how they contributed a bit of difference to their fully green surroundings.

I may be reaching here, but for me, it reminded me that we must be beautifully and fully ourselves no matter who is around. And when we are true to ourselves, we make our mark and the uniqueness shines through! :)

Photos From a Weekend

Today I thought that I'd share a couple of slightly fuzzy photos from the past few days that I've shared on Instagram. I took both last weekend. The top one was from when I was out and about having a short Sunday morning walk. The bottom one was taken from the passenger seat in our car as we headed out to do an errand.

As I mentioned on Instagram, the top one reminds me that spring is on its way in little ways that we can notice here and there. The bottom photo just reminded me how much I love the countryside, even with slightly broken fences :) Both remind me of the beauty of nature.

I hope that you have a great weekend wherever you are! :)

All of the Yellowness

So the last time I posted, I mentioned that the leaves around here hadn't changed very much, well ask and you shall receive. It seems that a couple of days after I wrote those words, nature decided to ask...

What you talkin' about Dori?

LOL!!!

I took these pictures a couple of days ago and lemme tell you, the tree across the street just went crazy all of a sudden. It's like the trees got together and said, "Let's show her what we can do!"

Wow, have they been doing it :) Everything is just beautiful! I thought about how perfect it is that the tree right across the street decides to really give us all of the amazing yellowness...I mean after all, this is the Yellow House ;-)

I've never seen it so beautifully yellow and I love it!

Happy weekend!

Enjoy the View

I was looking back through my photos and thought that I'd share this recent one.

Back on Good Friday, hubby and I went for a walk that morning and it was so beautiful. The view was extraordinary and we could see for miles.

Enjoy the view! :-)

Beautiful Weeds

Happy Monday!

These are some of the dandelions that are taking over a corner of the backyard currently. I know that they're a weed, but I can't bring myself to cut them down. They're so beautiful!!! The yellow color is so vibrant.

Seeing them takes me back to being a little girl and sitting in the grass with a few dandelions dotted here and there. I think we'll enjoy them for a little longer since they're over to the side and out of the way. Having that sunny yellow around makes me smile!

Have a wonderful day and week! :-)

Beauty

Here's a quick photo that I took today. I had to catch this butterfly very quickly because he was gone in a flash. That's what I loved...that it was here and then gone. It made me appreciate capturing this fleeting moment even more. It's not the greatest picture by a long way, but he was so beautiful and I'm so appreciative that he stopped by to thrill me for a minute. Now I share it with you :-)

Seven Years and Counting

Seven years ago today, I arrived on these shores to start a new chapter of my life. I had flown through the night from the southeastern United States to this lovely island where I live now.

This is a picture of the beautiful blossoms that I left behind back home in Georgia. They were at the edge of a field that I had played in all of my life. So right before I left I took a picture of them so that I could freeze them in time and remember them just as they were right before I left. I guess it was my way of holding onto a bit of my roots as I was preparing to move so far away. Also, we had just lost my mom so it seemed like I was leaving everything behind and it was a tough time. When I saw these beautiful pink flowers I felt happy and calm because nature can always do its work on me in times of stress. It's hard for me to worry about anything when I see God's beautiful work right in front of my face :-)

I knew that I was setting off on a journey in more ways than one and I was intrigued to see what would come...

***

When I flew over here to England, I left in the dark of night on one side of the Atlantic Ocean and arrived on the other side of the ocean in the light of the morning. I was glad to see Brit Boy and I was glad that I had arrived safely. We drove home from the airport and I walked into our little yellow house here. The first thing that I did was to go and look out of the window and this is what I saw in the backyard.

There were beautiful pink flowers here to greet me on the other side of the world and I smiled.

As always, nature brought me peace :-)

It's been an eventful seven years. I can hardly believe that that much time has passed. I've gained some things, I've lost some things, but I can honestly say...it's all good. I can't complain. I'm grateful for life and I can't wait to see what the next seven years will bring and the next and the next...

Snowy England

Hello there! So here are the photos that I promised to share of the snowy surroundings here in southwest England :-)  As I mentioned before, I'm not a big fan of snow, but it makes for nice scenery! I hope that you enjoy these :-)

Lovely Bath

Today I'm finally sharing my photos that I took during our recent trip to beautiful Bath. It was a bit of an overcast day and near the end it rained, but that city is a gorgeous place to visit in mostly any weather. There are many things that I love about Bath...it's architecturally beautiful, it's just the right size, and I always feel a difference when I visit. I'll explain. I've been living here for a bit over six and a half years now, and even though it is great to live here, after a while I've gotten used to it because I'm living a normal life everyday. I know that it's a treat to get a chance to live outside one's homeland, but for me when I'm let's say, washing dishes, I could be anywhere as I get dishpan hands :-) I guess that what I'm trying to say is that after this while and simply getting on with life, I don't think daily about the fact that I live in another country. But from time to time, when I'm least expecting it, I have this realization that "hey, I'm in a totally different country". And in those moments I'm truly grateful for the opportunity to have this experience. I try to be grateful generally in my life, but I do get those moments when I stop in the middle in my life and take a look around. I guess you could say that momentarily I stop and smell the roses. When I have those moments I tell myself that I have to take notice more...I'm working on it...I'm a work in progress :-) Anyway, back to my story. So when I'm in Bath I have those moments of realization and I feel the difference, like "yeah, I'm somewhere else". Bath is probably my favorite place so far that I've visited in England.

We went to Bath that day to simply have a lovely day out and it was great! Brit Boy and I always enjoy having a stroll around the city and this is where Brit Boy attended university, so it holds a special place in his heart. Since I've been so wordy already, I'll just make the rest of this more of a photo post with very few words ;-)

Left: This is a rather blurry pic that I took from the car as we were waiting to get off at the exit. Bath is beautifully laid out within the rolling hills.

Right: The view as we drove along into town to get to the parking. I love the way the houses hug the curve of the road.

Left: The view driving into town and down the hill
Above: I love the shape of this building
Above: Street Scene...Bath is full of cozy little areas like this

Above: Pretty side street. I don't know the name of the church, but I love how it is nestled just right there
Above: A view of Bath Abbey and to the right are the Roman Baths

Above: Which way do we go???? LOL

Above: My delicious lunch...a spinach & cheese ravioli garnished with cheese and salad and the glorious bread. Yum!!!! Wish I had some now! It was SO good! We ate at a department store restaurant and were floored that the food was so nice and tasty and reasonably priced!

Above: Brit Boy's lasagna

Above: Last but not least, the sweet shop where I got my Nerds candy that I mentioned in my previous post. It was such a cute shop...old fashioned and just perfect!
And that's all folks! I have about a thousand more photos of Bath because every time we go I just can't help myself. It is that beautiful! I always feel at home there. And I LOVE getting the chance to share it with all of you. I will share some more photos in the future because I want everyone to get the chance to experience this interesting place. So I hope that you'll indulge any future photo posts that I do ;-)  These photos don't even scratch the surface. More to come...

If you'd like to know more about Bath, just let me know in the comments. I could talk about it forever and I'm not being paid by the city, I just love this beautiful place. LOL.

Until next time...

Final Roses

As I mentioned yesterday, we have a few roses finishing off the season around the Yellow House. I've shared some photos of these lovely roses before, but they are always so exquisite that I just love sharing them here :-) I've been playing with Photoshop as you can tell ;-) I decided to present our pretty roses in another light for a change of pace. I think that this one is the last of all of them. I took this photo the other day and this lovely flower has already started its fading as I type this. The leaves are starting to fall away, but that is the way of life as the seasons change as you know. So as we head into autumn/fall, I hope you can smell the sweetness of this beautiful rose and I hope that it reminds you of the joys and memories of your summer!

Have a great weekend! :-)

Resilient Roses

I thought that I would share a bit of the back garden today. This is one of the big pink roses that is growing out back. It took a beating in the wind yesterday, but it survived. Please overlook a bit of my hand in the left corner of the picture!

I hope that everyone is having a great weekend! My book post will be next! :-)

Some Wiltshire Scenery

Hello all! I hope that everyone had a good weekend. Mine was good. It was more of a quiet weekend than the one before, which is good sometimes. Today I wanted to share some of the photos that I promised to share from our previous weekend. These are photos from May 12th that I took when we went for our outing in the woods that Saturday. I thought that I'd start out with some photos of the drive down there. I love taking pictures of clouds and that day the weather was beautiful and we had these fluffy clouds just gliding by. Also I thought it would be fun to share what it looks like on the drive further south in Wiltshire. I'll share the photos of the very pretty woods in another post.

The first two photos are just a bit of what it looks like as you drive further out into the countryside. I love driving down there and away from all the hustle and bustle of town life.

These next two were taken on the edge of Avebury...home of an arrangement of stones, similar to Stonehenge. The first one is the view driving into Avebury and the second one is on the other side as you're driving out of the village. The yellow field that is visible in the distance in the second photo is a field of rapeseed.

And this last photo really needs no description...it's a field of sheep. They graze around Avebury and they are a tranquil sight to see :-) I'll be back with more photos from that fun day out and I hope that you all have a great day!

Super Full Moon

Here's an interesting video that I found about the Super Full Moon that will be visible tonight (May 5th). The video isn't too long so I hope that you'll take a look. I'm fascinated by the full moon, so having a bigger visual to look at is right up my alley! When I was back home, even when it was just the normal full moon, I loved to go outside into our field and take a look at all of that gorgeousness :-) There is just something so calming and extraordinary about a full moon. It makes me feel like I'm truly a part of the human experience, because I realize that I'm not the first and I won't be the last to gaze up at it and that binds me with everyone who ever looked up at the moon. Also, I just love having that moment to stand and just contemplate whatever crosses my mind in that moment...or I don't have to think about anything at all. That is the beauty!

So I will be watching and I hope that the weather cooperates and gives us a clear sky for a while here. But even if the clouds don't disappear, I will still know it's there :-) I hope that you'll join me! Have a great weekend and happy Super Full Moon night to you!

The Colors of Nature

I was going through some of my photographs this morning and I came across this one that I like a lot. I took it last summer while Brit Boy and I were out around Wiltshire. I took it from the car as I am fond of doing when we are out and about :-) It's rather blurry, but I love the colors of nature and it was just a beautiful day that day. Seeing this photo again instantly takes me back to that day and how I felt as Brit Boy drove along. I look forward to getting some more photos like this hopefully this summer, and if I do, you know that I will share them here! :-)

Have a wonderful Thursday!

Color in the Garden

I just wanted to share some more signs of spring around the Yellow House :-) These are some of the beautiful crocuses that are growing outside. I never have to do anything and they just reveal themselves. I love that they just pop up when they're ready! Nature is beautiful!

Roses

These are some of the last roses blooming in our backyard. I wanted to capture them before they go and share a couple of pics. This year the roses were more plentiful than I've ever seen them. I hope that everyone has a great week! :-)
