Renewal

Happy Sunday!

The photo above features my beautiful maidenhair fern. She's a bit of a resurrection and renewal story for real. Half of her had gone all brown and yellow only a couple of months ago. She was in a sad state. I'm not as green thumbed as my mother was, but I'm working on becoming a better gardener. I love the peace that it brings.

I realized that I was overwatering her and perhaps the bone-chilling ongoing cold of our Wiltshire weather was not helping. Before, I tried to think of what my mom would do and then after thinking it through, I realized that I was overwatering my fern. I thought that I was doing what was right, but I realized that I was suffocating her...drowning her...so I took a step back. And guess what? She's been flourishing :) It's been a lesson for me to relax a bit more in growing as a gardener, but also in my life. The lessons are there and I'm listening.

Have a good Sunday wherever you are :)

Orchids

This is my beautiful orchid :) My hubby gave it to me as a surprise gift about three weeks ago and it is still beautiful and thriving...fingers crossed ;-) I've always wanted to try growing and caring for an orchid, so I'm excited to give it a go. The flowers are seemingly so perfect that they don't look real. Orchids are just exquisite!

I'm been studying up on how to care for this beautiful plant. I love plants and gardening, so I'm hoping to develop a true green thumb like my mom had. She was a great gardener and could grow just about anything of the floral or vegetable variety.

I'll share updates from time to time about how the Yellow House orchid is doing ;-)

Have a great day and week!

Being True

This is a photo that I recently shared on Instagram. It's kinda recycled in a way since it's been posted there, but hey, recycling as a practice is good isn't it? :)

I took this photo one day when I was just sitting in my armchair. I looked out into the backyard. I thought about how that couple of little daffodils are holding their own in contrast to all of that green. They are beautiful and I loved how they contributed a bit of difference to their fully green surroundings.

I may be reaching here, but for me, it reminded me that we must be beautifully and fully ourselves no matter who is around. And when we are true to ourselves, we make our mark and the uniqueness shines through! :)

Flower Memories

It's a beautiful sunny day today and it's even warm...YAY!!!! It actually feels like summer and that's a wonderful thing since it's felt perpetually like October for weeks and weeks and weeks before this latest bit of warmth. I'm a happy woman :-)

This sunny summer weather has me thinking about being outside a lot more and it has me taking a good look at our yard. What I've noticed is the lack of plants and things this year. There were beautiful pink azaleas a couple of months ago, but that's it. When I look out at the back yard there isn't any color. This plant in the picture above was from a couple of years ago. It hadn't bloomed to its full potential at this point, but later it was so vibrant.

Looking back at this old photo and having all of this warmth has me thinking that I may need to get a plant or two for the back yard to liven up the place a bit. I'm sure that in an overall roundabout way it'll help with my ongoing healing too. I'll be able to see the vibrance of some beautiful flowers every day :-)

Have a wonderful day wherever you are!

The Saga Continues

Just a quick update about the plant outside. As I said in a previous post, stuff happens! LOL

Well, the plant is still dying, but I'm impressed with its hanging on ability. Who knew? Even though it was looking really crunchy before, right now it actually looks a tiny bit better than it did. I'm one of those people who doesn't give up easily, so even though things looked bad I decided to water it a bit more to see if some simple TLC could help it. And it did somewhat. The bugs have still been having their way with it, but at least it doesn't look quite as bad.

There are all kinds of philosophical things going through my head during this saga of the houseplant. Who knew that it would get this deep?  ;-)

Anyway, just thought that I'd share. Also I hope that everybody is having a good weekend!

Talk to you later...

Stuff Happens

Ugh! Do you see what happened to my Salvia? This is what my beautiful plant looks like now after bugs had their way with it.

Here's what it used to look like...

Oh well. It was beautiful for a while :-)

Happy Weekend

Today is a sunny and warm day, so I'm celebrating that summer is here finally. We've been having a very chilly spring and early summer, so I don't know how long this will last. But I'm going to enjoy this summer fun while I can :-)

Here's a look at what a tiny corner of our backyard looks like. This is one of my favorite plants. It's Salvia. I love the vibrant red color!

We are supposed to have great weather here this weekend, so I'll be out enjoying it! I hope that wherever you are that you are enjoying your weekend too...whether it's rain or shine.

Happy Weekend!

A Bit of Heather

Hello! :-)

Here is my slightly fuzzy photo of our pot of heather in the kitchen window. I love having the heather there when I'm looking out the window as I wash dishes. I hate washing dishes, but this cute little heather plan cheers things up a bit. As I mentioned in my previous post, I'm in the mood to share more of the numerous photos that I take regularly. I really enjoyed sharing my pics in the past, so I'm going to return to that. I really enjoy looking at other people's pictures on their blogs, so I hope that you enjoy seeing a bit of my life and my surroundings here. I'm getting back to my original purpose for writing this blog...to share my experience of living here with anyone who wants to take a peek! :-) I will still be sharing reviews of different products from time to time and I think that this reset of sorts will hopefully be a good mix. So I hope that you enjoy visiting me!

I have some photos from our recent trip to Bath that I will share in a few days. I didn't get a huge amount of photos, but I got a few. One day I will have to share some of the older photos of Bath that I have in my archives, because I have better representations of that beautiful place. I LOVE going to Bath! It is one of my two favorite places that I've visited in England. It is just gorgeous. If you haven't ever had the chance to visit, you should definitely put it on your list to visit one day :-)

Until next time...
