An Intriguing Opportunity to Go Forth

I've been a bit absent and sporadic about my blogging lately, but for good reason. I haven't been feeling so well, but I pray that I'm on the mend. (Sidenote: I didn't have Covid-19). I'm certainly better than I was a few weeks ago, so for that I'm truly grateful. I will get there.

I thought that I'd drop in with a short post just to get back into the swing of things. It's kind of a good time to restart since tomorrow will be July 1st, the second half of 2021. It will be an intriguing opportunity to go forth with this blog again 😊 I hope you'll join me!

This Year: 2020

Winter leafless trees

Christmas Day is five days away. It's surreal to think that Christmas is nearly here and that the new year will be here a week after that. This has been the most unsettling year to say the VERY least. I'm at a loss for words to describe it because any descriptive words that I come up with seem woefully inadequate. The world has gone through SO MUCH despair and heartache collectively.

Personally, I have lost family members and honestly, I never knew that my heart could hurt so much. I thought that I felt terrible in the spring, but then life said..."Wait, there's more."

Everything sounds clichΓ©, but I've spent a lot of this year feeling rather numb and extremely anxious. Nothing feels "right" anymore and I'm struggling to find what "right" or "okay" would feel like to me again. I know that things will be different because going through hell changes you, even if it's in small ways. I guess that life is about change, but this has been something else.

As I type this, I'm just doing my best to stay in the moment. I've been reading a lot this year about resilience during these harsh days of 2020 and one thing that I've noticed the most is the advice to stay in the moment. I used to wonder what people truly meant when they said that. I took it in on a surface level I guess, but THIS YEAR has not just told me, but it has shown me in full color just what that means. I've had no choice but to stay in the moment, because grief has wrestled me to the ground whenever I looked back too much and played the "shoulda-woulda-coulda" game with myself. And when I've tried to think about the future, anywhere further than a day ahead, I've been frozen by anxiety. Therefore, staying in the moment has become my mantra and my survival.

Still, I know that I will be okay. There is a path. I will get there. I will heal. I am healing.

This year has taken a lot, but I have learned so much and I am still learning. Life is so precious.

This will be my final post for 2020. I know that I've been sporadic with my blogging this year, but I look forward to going forward into 2021 with a clean slate. I look forward to sharing much more here. I just need to take a breather and concentrate on healing. I'll be back in the new year! I hope that you'll visit me again.

Here's to renewal and healing!

I wish everyone who celebrates, a Merry Christmas, Happy Kwanzaa, Happy Holidays, and a Happy New Year!
Be well and stay safe.

The Forward Journey

Over the last several days, I’ve been thinking a lot about time or more specifically about this new decade that’s coming our way. It’s wild to think about the fact that as I’m typing this from this corner of Wiltshire, England, that there are only 59 full days left in this year…in this decade. I always get introspective as we move closer to the end of the year, but it usually doesn’t hit me until December. This time it’s entering my thoughts a bit earlier. Maybe it’s just where my mind needs to be at this point in my life. It’s exciting to think about the prospect of a new decade.

I’ve been thinking back over this decade that we’re finishing and to be perfectly frank, I’ll be glad to see the back of the 2010’s. I know that there isn’t a magic switch that will make the new decade of the 2020’s miraculous and worry-free, of course not. However, in my life, the 2010’s have worn me out and down quite a bit. To be perfectly frank, this decade has been incredibly hard in so many ways for me personally and I know it hasn’t been a piece of cake for the world either…far from it. Sure, there have been some bright spots for us all and I’m grateful, but I think that it’s getting to the time to hit the refresh button. Renewal is good.

On a personal level, I need to think of the new decade in terms of new energy and renewal. I know that we can get up each day and start anew, any day of the year, but from a mental point of view, I’m going to embrace this metaphorical line in the sand of time. It’s what I need.

I’m still going to be in the moment as much as I can and relish these next 59 days because tomorrow is never promised. However, I’m also going to think about what things I can do in my own life to start the Roaring 20’s off with a bit more purpose in my life. I want more from my life and there’s nothing wrong with taking stock to grow more into being even more of my true self. Here’s to the forward journey! 😊

Happy Fall

Happy Fall!
Happy Autumn!

This is one of my favorite seasons. I like all of the seasons because they each bring something unique.  However, I have a special love for spring and fall. Nature really turns things up a notch especially during these seasons and I relish all that Mother Nature shows us. The colors in both seasons are extraordinary!

I love tbe crispness of the air when fall comes. It's just enough...not too cold if we're lucky and we get to pull out the scarves  boots and all of the layered fashion choices. The best thing of all though is all of the color. The leaves look as if they've been painted by an artist. It's a glorious time of the year!

If you're in the northern hemisphere, happy autumn/fall !!! πŸπŸ‚πŸAnd if you're in the southern hemisphere,  happy spring!!! πŸŒΈπŸ’πŸŒ·

Finding My Way

I found this photo above yesterday...it's from my early days of blogging. It's well over a decade old. It's a bit blurry, but there's something about it for me personally. I didn't go looking for this photo specifically, but I stumbled across it and it spoke to me. It reminds me of seemingly "simpler times"...or maybe not that simple, but it was taken during a time when I felt a bit more at peace. I love this photo because it prominently features nature...especially the beauty of a spring day. That bench looks so inviting. I remember the day when I took this. It's a visual representation of where I go in my mind or at least try to when things get tough.

Here's to finding my way back to this bench in my mind's eye more and more. I'm working on it. Today was better than yesterday :)

April 2019

This photo was taken a few year ago and it's a bit fuzzy, but I love the retro feeling I get when I see it and I love blue! :)

Happy April

Happy new month!

I hope that this new month brings you joy and great new opportunities.

Lots of love!

Happy September

Happy new month to everyone!

I love September because it's a gateway into one of my favorite seasons...fall/autumn. Sidenote: my other favorite season is spring.

As you may know if you've visited me here before, I love trees. So I thought that I'd share a bit of both. I took this photo a couple of weeks ago when my hubby and I were taking a walk.

May this new month bring good, great and wonderful things into your life!

Happy June

June is here and we're gliding into another summer. I can't believe that it's already June, but as they say, time flies.

It's been quite rainy and stormy around here in Wiltshire over the past few days, but I'm hoping we get some sunny summer days soon.

Happy June! Wishing everyone a wonderful month!

Hello July

Happy July!!!!

I can't believe that we're halfway through the year already.

I like July 1st because I've always seen it as a reset button if I need it or a progress milestone in my life. I often will mark the day as one to regroup and recommit to whatever I'm doing. January 1st is the beginning of the year of course and it's the start of a whole new year, but I like July 1st also. Any day of the year can be a new start if we want, this is true. However, I love this midpoint day too as a day of renewal if that's what we want :-)

So I hope that everyone has a wonderful July 1st whether you use it as a new beginning or  if you just like July. Lol.

Have a wonderful day and a wonderful new month wherever you are!

I'm Back

Hello!!!!!  :-)

I just wanted to share that I've finished my courses now, so I will be back to blogging much more full time over the next few days. I can't wait!

I've been saving things to blog about for weeks, so I'll be sharing pics and things on a regular basis for a while.

I did something today that I haven't done in a while...I actually read a book that I chose. Woo Hoo! I've been enjoying my courses, but the drawback was having to read some things that I just didn't enjoy. The bright side of it though was that I enjoyed a lot of the books a great deal, so it worked out in the end :-)

It just felt so good to dive into my pile of books that I've been saving all of these months. I've decided to also write some posts about what I'm reading from time to time...the good and the bad ;-)

So thanks for continuing to visit me over these long stretches when I wasn't able to blog like I wanted. I appreciate it so much!

Until next time...
